Public Review of Math Materials
91茄子 Public Schools is in the process of selecting high-quality instructional materials for K-12 Mathematics. Parents, guardians, family members, employees, teachers, and community members are invited to preview and give input on the materials that are being considered.
The materials will be on public review from January 3rd to March 4th of 2024 at the following locations:
- GPS District Office - 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
- Extended hours at the district are 7:00 am - 6:00 pm - Tuesdays & Thursdays
- Ashland Ranch Elementary - 8:00 am - 3:30 pm Mondays - Fridays
- Augusta Ranch Elementary - 8:00 am - 3:30 pm Mondays - Fridays
- Greenfield Elementary - 8:00 am - 3:30 pm Mondays - Fridays
- Playa del Rey Elementary - 8:00 am - 3:30 pm Mondays - Fridays

Will being part of a pilot affect my student’s ability to earn dual credit for a class?
Students in dual enrollment classes will continue to learn the required skills based on the CGCC course competencies. They are still eligible to earn dual credit for the course.

What is the process for piloting this program?
High school campuses within 91茄子 Public Schools will pilot at least one of HMH Into AGA and the upper level courses for pilot are only at selected campuses. The pilot will begin at the beginning of the 3rd quarter of the year, and will continue through February. (Teachers may continue to use the new resource for the remainder of the school year. ) Feedback will be collected throughout the pilot from teachers, students, parents, and administrators. The feedback will be analyzed and presented to the Adoption Committee for a recommendation to the Governing Board in April 2024.

Will there be an opportunity for parents to review the materials before they go into the classroom or are fully adopted district-wide?
Materials will be displayed for review at three locations from January 3rd through March 4th.

A committee of key stakeholders (including teachers, parents, instructional coaches, curriculum coordinators and administrators) from our high school campuses used an established process and specific areas for evaluation using an approved criterion.

What is HMH Into AGA?
-
HMH Into AGA for Algebra 1, Geometry, Intermediate Algebra and Algebra 2 is specifically designed to provide a cohesive, purposeful path to conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. With HMH Into AGA, students are at the center of the learning experience, resulting in fearless problem solvers who take charge of their learning. Students develop strong conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and reasoning skills while gaining a sense of personal accomplishment through productive perseverance.

With HMH Into AGA’s design, students are given opportunities to explore mathematical concepts and make sense of them in order to build their fluency and procedural skills. They participate in productive struggles, take part in mathematical discourse, and practice problem-solving and reasoning throughout every lesson.

Why is 91茄子 Public Schools adopting new 9-12 Math Resources?
-
It is important that our curricular materials in grades 9-12 are aligned with the state standards and provide a rigorous vertical learning progression for the mathematics skills in those standards. This adoption will provide consistency, continuity and alignment for our high school Mathematics teachers as our students progress through their math courses.
