  • 91茄子 Public Schools was awarded the 2024 Best Communities for Music Education in the nation by the NAMM Foundation. This program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made for districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.

    At 91茄子 Public Schools we have a tradition of high quality and expansive musical offerings in Pre-K–12. Our highly qualified and certified music teachers, along with their students, demonstrate on a daily basis that an effective music program contributes to the educational and personal enrichment of the whole child.  91茄子 Public Schools is recognized at the state and national level for its outstanding music programs. Locally, 91茄子 music programs are an integral part of the 91茄子 community. Our music staff boasts more than any other district in the state of Arizona. Kindergarten–6th Grade Music Education

  • Elementary General Music Resource

    is an elementary general music program that includes over 6,500 teaching resources designed for in-class learning. The interactive nature of the content allows teachers to remain the central source of instruction, while students can work at the interactive whiteboard or on mobile devices. 

    Benefits of the program:

    • Seamless Technology integration: The content is rich, engaging, and adaptable to many different teaching styles. Quaver allows teachers to use lessons that are aligned to standards or to adapt and create lessons aligned with a particular standard.
    • Differentiation of learning: In addition to providing tools for auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners, there are options in Quaver for all-class learning, small-group learning, and individual learning.
    • Adaptability: The platform puts an emphasis on respecting the teacher as the driver of the content and the expert in their classroom.  It is adaptable to many learning styles and teaching styles which means our teachers are more likely to use it and use it well.

    Kindergarten–4th Grade

    All students Kindergarten through 4th grade enjoy a comprehensive general music program. A highly qualified music teacher on each campus introduces children to rhythm, melody, harmony, form, tone color, texture, and style. Students learn through singing, moving, playing instruments, listening, writing, creating, and improvising. Students at all grade levels perform in musical events throughout the school year.

    5th & 6th Grade Music Classes

    5th and 6th-grade students have a choice of 3 music classes:

    • Band
    • String Orchestra
    • General music

    General music in 5th and 6th grade is unit-based and continues to build on the vocabularies of music that the students have explored in K–4. Often strong relationships to the student’s social studies curriculum are established, particularly American music in 5th grade and world music in 6th grade. Individual schools may offer experiences with ukulele, guitar, world drumming, keyboards and more when these instruments are available.

    Our string orchestra and band programs in 5th and 6th grade are led by highly qualified music teachers with a specialty in the area of either string or band instruments. They are teacher-performers who truly love music and are committed to keeping up to date with the latest in music curriculum and teaching strategies. Students have the choice of an extensive range of instruments to learn:

    String Orchestra - violin, viola, cello, bass

    Band - flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, percussion

    Ultimately the elementary music curriculum is designed to produce performance competencies that are appropriate to the student's music experience and development. Our music classes create opportunities for students to develop many life skills which contribute to their long-term educational and personal development, such as teamwork, self-discipline, concentration, commitment, coordination of muscle motor groups, visual and auditory development, positive self-image, listening skills, self-expression, and creativity.
