    All 91ÇÑ×Ó Public Schools preschool programs are aligned with the Arizona Department of Education Early Learning Standards.

    Conventional Kindergarten Prep

    The Kindergarten Prep curriculum focuses on literacy and academic content in an intentionally developed preschool environment. It is supplemented with: Fundations, LETRs EC, Handwriting Without Tears, We Thinkers! Social-Emotional curriculum, STEAM and Unplugged Coding activities. 

    Gifted Cluster Kindergarten Prep

    Families may choose to apply for  to qualify for Gifted Services in an Ashland Ranch Kindergarten Prep session. The Kindergarten Prep curriculum focuses on literacy and academic content in an intentionally developed preschool environment. It is supplemented with: Fundations, LETRs EC, Handwriting Without Tears, We Thinkers! Social-Emotional curriculum, STEAM and Unplugged Coding activities. Strategies are intentionally tailored to meet the diverse needs of the gifted child. Enrichment methods will be implemented throughout the program.

    Traditional Kindergarten Prep

    The Traditional curriculum utilizes a primary language arts program based on the Spalding Method using 'The Writing Road to Reading' (2012). It is a phonics-based program with an emphasis on oral phonogram practice. The mathematics program, Math in Focus, is a comprehensive program that develops strong algebraic concepts and problem-solving skills.  Science, music, art, and physical education are introduced daily through hands-on discovery and other intentionally developed activities. Programming is supplemented with: Handwriting Without Tears, LETRs EC, We Thinkers! Social-Emotional Curriculum, STEM, and Unplugged Coding activities.  

    S.T.E.A.M. Kindergarten Prep 

    Focused curriculum designed specifically for children to learn practical skills to prepare them for K-12 and beyond. The Kindergarten Prep curriculum focuses on literacy and academic content in an intentionally developed preschool environment. It is supplemented with: Fundations, LETRs EC, Handwriting Without Tears, We Thinkers! Social-Emotional curriculum. There is an emphasis on S.T.E.A.M. and Unplugged Coding activities. 


    Ages: 4 & 5

    Partial Day - at Ashland Ranch, Canyon Rim, Highland Park, Meridian, Neely Traditional, Superstition Springs and Val Vista Lakes

    AM 5 Days, 8:15 am–11:15 am 

    PM 4 Days, 12:15 pm-3:15 pm 

    Full Day - at Canyon Rim, Quartz Hill, Spectrum, and Superstition Springs Elementary     

    Monday-Friday, 8:15 am-3:15 pm (2:15 pm on Wednesdays)

      Kindergarten Prep

        The Kindergarten Prep curriculum focuses on literacy and academic content in an intentionally developed preschool environment. It is aligned with the Arizona Department of Education Early Learning Standards, and is supplemented with: Fundations, LETRs EC, Handwriting Without Tears, We Thinkers! Social-Emotional curriculum, STEAM and Unplugged Coding activities.

        Gifted Cluster Kindergarten Prep, offered at  Ashland Ranch Elementary - testing to determine eligibility to receive gifted services is offered by appointment only.  A non-refundable fee of $175 is required for testing.  Testing of your child takes approximately one to three hours using intelligence tests approved by the Arizona Department of Education (e.g., WPPSI-IV, Stanford Binet-V: Early Childhood, DAS-II, etc.). A parent or guardian is required to stay on the premises during testing. A placement in Kindergarten Prep at Ashland Ranch will be required for services, however, registration for Ashland Ranch Kindergarten Prep does not automatically qualify a student to receive gifted services. 

        S.T.E.A.M. Kindergarten Prep, offered at Quartz Hill Elementary, is an approach to teaching and learning that combines science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math to guide student inquiry, discussion, and problem solving. 

        Traditional Kindergarten Prep, offered at Canyon Rim Elementary, Spectrum Elementary and Neely Traditional Academy, is designed to give students that will be attending a Traditional Kindergarten a jump-start on their educational pathway. Students will participate in primary language arts (Spalding), math (Math in Focus), science, music, art, and physical education through hands-on discovery and other age-appropriate activities.
