Welcome to the Sports Performance Academy

Our Sports Performance Academy students have access to the full junior high experience, both academically and socially, attending class with their peers in the morning, taught by certified, highly qualified GPS teachers. Students then attend a training or performing arts facility of their choice in the afternoon with transportation available to some local facilities.

How to Enroll in the Sports Performance Academy

Please complete 91茄子 Public Schools online enrollment for South Valley Junior High (Grades 7-8).
When you reach the Student Enrollment Section of the application, please select Performance Academy in the 'Enrollment Grade' drop-down and South Valley Junior High in the 'School Requested' drop-down.
If you are an existing GPS student, then you can proceed to online enrollment by clicking "Existing GPS Family Registration" on our Enrollment Page and logging into your Infinite Campus account to complete the online open enrollment process.

How do we enroll?
We are now accepting applications to join our Performance Academy at Mesquite Elementary and South Valley Junior High.
Below you will find a few links where you can obtain information online, as well as the ability to enroll in 91茄子 Public Schools, and once enrolled, the Performance Academy.
GPS Performance Academy (click here)
- Complete the 91茄子 Public Schools online open enrollment for either Mesquite Elementary (Grades 4-6) or South Valley Junior High (Grades 7-8).
- When you reach the Student Enrollment Section of the application, please select Performance Academy in the 'Enrollment Grade' drop-down and either Mesquite Elementary or South Valley Junior High in the 'School Requested' drop down.
- If you are currently a GPS student, then you can proceed to enrollment immediately by clicking "Existing GPS Family Registration" and logging into your Infinite Campus account.

What qualifies my child to be a part of the Sports Performance Academy?
To be part of the Sports Performance Academy students must:
- be an incoming 7th - 8th grader for the school year you are enrolling
- enroll in 91茄子 Public Schools to attend South Valley Junior High (7th-8th graders)
**Please note that students do NOT have to live within the boundaries of South Valley Junior High or 91茄子 Public Schools in order to enroll at the Performance Academy.
Additional information for students enrolling through open enrollment - Open Enrollment application must be completed and submitted to the school in which the student seeks to enroll, outside of the designated school boundaries. Acceptance of an open enrollment student is on a year-by-year basis. However, students do not need to re-apply unless they are seeking enrollment at another school site.

What is the GPS school calendar for 2023/24?
Performance Academy programs follow the 91茄子 Public Schools calendar.

Can a student be picked up to attend training in afternoon?
Yes, your student can be enrolled in an athletics or a performing arts program of their choice, and be picked up by a parent or family member at the end of the morning academic schedule and taken to their facility or program.

Can Sports Performance Academy students take part in Junior High athletics?
Yes, our Sports Performance Academy students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to take part in South Valley Junior High Athletics.
Junior High sports seasons are 9 weeks in length. For more information on South Valley Junior High Athletics click here.

What if I live outside of GPS boundaries?
Yes! Please follow the process and select South Valley Junior High.
Students do not have to live within 91茄子 Public Schools boundaries to attend the Performance Academy.
