  • Mission Statement

    The mission of the Playa del Rey Student Council is to provide students, both officers of the Executive Board and classroom representatives, opportunities to develop into responsible leaders within the school and community. The organization promotes citizenship and decision-making that impacts the entire student body.

    We will accomplish this mission by doing the following:

    • Provide an opportunity to develop leadership skills
    • Respect all individuals in the school and community
    • Provide service for the student body and community members
    • Involve students in sharing ideas to help make our school the best it can be
    • Provide a voice for the students
    • Give all students practice in democracy in action
    • Planning and producing student activities and events
    • Raising funds for worthwhile school and community projects
    • Representing the student body at school-related events


    Membership


    All students in grades three through six shall have the opportunity to be nominated, to vote, and to offer ideas for student council as classroom representatives. These positions are elected each semester by each of the homerooms.The executive officers of the student council are elected by ballot by students in grades three to five. Only fifth grade students are eligible to be nominated for the four open positions on the executive board.  The principal shall be the final authority over all actions of the student council.
