If you do not currently hold a substitute certificate, but do have a bachelor's degree and are interested in becoming a substitute, there are two steps:

1. To start this process, you must obtain an IVP fingerprint clearance card - This process is a two-step process that requires applicants to establish accounts for both the  and  websites. Visit the Arizona Department of Public Safety's website to obtain information regarding a Fingerprint Clearance Card or call 602-223-2279. 
 
2. Once you have received your fingerprint clearance card, complete the Arizona Department of Education substitute or . (This process may take up to 8-10 weeks). Visit the Arizona Department of Education's website to download the application or for more information, or call ADE at 602-542-4367.
