For decades, music education at 91茄子 Public Schools has been a significant part of the student experience. PreK-12 students have access to numerous musical programs made available to all skill levels. Our music students and staff continue to be recognized at the regional, state and national levels, carrying on the district’s legacy of excellence.

“At 91茄子 Public Schools, we have a long history of offering students high-quality music programs led by experienced and passionate educators. With support from our community, we offer a wide range of programs, including marching band, concert band, jazz band, orchestra, choir, elementary music, and more. It is a privilege to witness the positive impact music education has on our students, both socially and academically, and we are excited to continue to deliver these exceptional programs for all our students, Kindergarten through 12th grade,” said Superintendent Dr. Shane McCord.

91茄子 Public Schools is one of only six school districts in Arizona to receive the national award this year. To qualify, GPS answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. School officials verified the responses, and they were reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

Music education offers students many benefits. In addition to developing their musical abilities, students are provided with opportunities to gain many life skills, including teamwork, self-discipline, concentration, commitment, muscle coordination, visual and auditory development, positive self-image, listening skills, self-expression and creativity.
