7th & 8th Grade Girls Soccer

  • Tryout Information- Girl’s Soccer 2023

Welcome to Greenfield Junior High!   Brent Morton is the 8th grade girls coach and Chris Martin is the 7th grade girls coach.  They each have coached soccer for more than 15 years.  The goal of a coach at Greenfield is to enhance each player’s skill level on the field as well as mold a cohesive team.

Tryouts begin October 16th.  All players interested in making the team should attend as many tryout days as possible to be considered. The more days you have to show your skill level, the better.  All players must have the athletic clearance completed, including the physical, prior to coming out to tryouts. Parents can access the required information and register their player on . Please reach out to Ana Sanchez in the office if you need help.  Each player will receive a tryout number once their registration is completed and cleared. The tryout number will be posted at Ana’s desk in the front office.  This tryout number MUST be placed on a shirt (both front and back) and worn each day.  We suggest a plain white t-shirt with large numbers, visible from afar.  Students are asked not to wear any recreational or club gear during tryouts.  Players will be scored on the skills, endurance, knowledge of positions on the field, and teamwork shown on and off the field each day. It is important that each player performs at his best level.

    Tryout Dates and Times:

    Monday, October 16th 3:45-5:30 p.m.      7th lower field/ 8th upper field

    Tuesday, October 17th 3:45-5:30 p.m.      7th lower field/ 8th upper field

    Wednesday, October 18                 3:45-5:30 p.m.      7th lower field/ 8th upper field

    Thursday, October 19 3:45-5:30 p.m.      7th lower field/ 8th upper field

    Friday, October 20 3:45-4:45 p.m.      7th lower field/ 8th upper field

Those trying out should bring a water bottle, comfortable shirt with tryout number on front and back, comfortable shorts, shin guards (mandatory),  and soccer cleats (or shoes that have traction for running and kicking).  Students are welcome to bring their own ball, however, it’s not required.  Those trying out will have an opportunity to use the girl’s locker room after school to dress out..  The locker room will not be open after tryouts. Bring all belongings to the field.

Participants will receive notification of whether or not they have made the team, after a short practice on Friday, October 20th.  We are looking to keep 18 players on each 7th and 8th grade team.

They will be given an envelope with their tryout results.  Please do not open the envelope until you are in your car or home with your family.  Let’s all be good sports and not brag or celebrate in front of others.

If a player makes the team, practices will be after school until 5:15 p.m. on most days, but there is a chance, practice on Fridays will be canceled. Most games are on Mondays and Wednesdays and start at 4:30 and run until about 5:45 p.m.  The first game of the season is November 1st.

We look forward to a great season and creating teams that demonstrate our motto of Grizzly Strong.
